Mate, i am i guess older than most of the people here in the comments, but that means i have a lot of life's experiences, good and bad. You really felt the change (bum tss) and this was first time i heard a heavy band sound exactly how i felt, like i was a part of something fresh, advanced, creative. The time of social dystopian exposition, edgy fashion,, internet, anime, electronic music, heroin chic, rebellion, occultism, consumerism complex, cynicism of wealth, escape from banal and emotional deplete.
This vibe to me is heavily felt in the record and it came out on the wave of very special moment in gen x history : Matrix, Fight Club, Lost Highway, Eyes Wide Shut. Lyrics and melody just gives me that feeling of bittersweet impassive last moment with something that is gone and it ends with break away. A ferawell party to the old state of world, like, you had it, and now its time to leave it behind and things have to move further.
AND the music video is like a swan song for its generation.
Have to confess, to be a teenager in the year White Pony came out is one of the best things i remember coming of age.
